Homeopathy For Pregnancy And Birth
My oldest daughter was born at four in the morning after 27 hours of labor. She meowed like a kitten, but roared into my heart like a lion. The moment I held her tiny body for the first time changed me in ways I still can’t articulate, introduced me to the true meaning of love, and set me on fire for a life of connection, authenticity, and true healing.
Her birth coincided with my headlong fall into a lifestyle that included homeopathy, traditional foods, connection parenting, and a general return to our roots. In fact, I discovered homeopathy in my quest to conceive children, for which it was very effective. Since her birth, I have only continued to fall more in love with homeopathy.
Homeopathy is a unique, energetic form of medicine. It doesn’t manipulate the body, but rather gives it information to help it come into balance, find expression, and heal. Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted, extremely safe, but also very effective at giving the body the information it needs to heal itself.
Homeopathy is a gift for everyone, but especially for women during the childbearing years whose bodies and souls are undergoing such profound shifts. There are many homeopathic remedies supportive of complaints ranging from morning sickness, fatigue, back aches, stretch marks, anxiety, headaches, swelling and more. Here are two of my absolute must-haves for pregnancy and birth!
Caulophylum
I recommend this remedy for all first time mothers and any mothers who have had more challenging birth experiences. I gave it to both of my sisters when they were pregnant with their first babies, and both experienced quick and straightforward births. It helps increase oxytocin and produce effective contractions among other benefits.
Take Caulophylum in a 12C or 30C potency once a week during the last month of pregnancy. It can also be taken in the 30C or 200C potency during labor when labor is weak or erratic.
Arnica
This is the preeminent remedy for addressing the inherent physical trauma of childbirth. It helps mitigate bruising, soreness, swelling, and excessive blood loss.
Take Arnica in a 12C or 30C potency once a week during the last month of pregnancy. Take it several days away from Caulophylum. For example, you could take Arnica on Mondays and Caulophylum on Fridays. I also give Arnica to mother and baby in a 30C or 200C potency after delivery.
I wish every woman had these in her birth bag! But this only scratches the tip of the iceberg. Other favorite remedies include Pulsatilla for turning a breech baby, Kali carb for back labor, Phosphorus for excessive bleeding, and Aconite for fear and shock.
My dream is that every pregnant mother has a childbirth homeopathy kit in her birth bag! If you’d like to purchase one, this is a nice, affordable homeopathy kit for childbirth.
I hope these remedies bless you and your experience of childbirth as they did for me. If you would like personalized recommendations for your pregnancy, birth, or personal health challenges, please reach out!
